Specialty Botox Aesthetics

Dr. Michael Gioscia is happy to introduce specialty botox aesthetics by partnership with Dr. Adam Messenger. Dr. Messenger believes in the pursuit of perfection by creating a perfect balance between art and medicine. Because of his extensive experience in several areas of medicine, Dr. Messenger has two aspects to his practice. He utilized his training as a cosmetic physician to develop innovative techniques for the injection of both Botulinum Toxin (Dysport and Botox) as well as fillers (Restylane, Perlane and Juvederm). In fact, it is his passion for art and skill as a sculptor that enabled him to create his Vertical Volume Lift technique for hyaluronic acid fillers. This revolutionary, new technique allows immediate, non-surgical results with minimal to no bruising or downtime. It has been so successful that the Medicis, the makers of Dysport, Restylane and Perlane, have asked him to teach his method to other physicians.

Dr. Adam J. Messenger received his BS in Neuroscience from Trinity College in Hartford, CT where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society. His interest in the field of Pharmacology motivated him to pursue both an MD degree and an MS in Pharmacology from New York Medical College. There, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) national medical honor society for his standing in the top 10% of his class He subsequently decided to pursue internal medicine for its broad overview of every field and optimal benefit to patients, further enhanced by his outstanding diagnostic skills and pharmacology expertise. He was elected Chief Resident at the Yale University Residency Program at Greenwich Hospital and devised a major patient safety initiative there, using computers to accurately and legibly allow physicians to order medications (published), and subsequently held the office of Chief Medical Information Officer. One of the youngest physicians to receive the prestigious Physician Partner in Care Award at Greenwich Hospital, Dr. Messenger was voted by nurses to be the physician they felt most comprehensively displayed outstanding skill in patient care, compassion and team leadership. He was twice awarded the Greenwich Hospital Quality Award for going above and beyond in patient care, particularly with those who were critically ill, and was also awarded the Dale Carnegie Golden Book award by his peers for outstanding leadership.

A Message From Dr. Messenger

I wanted to describe my philosophy on aging so you are able to understand the process and be comfortable with me as your injector.  First and foremost, I wanted to note that I have found it better to approach the injectable process as more of an art than a science.  I utilize the right side of my brain where my skills and passions as a musician and sculptor reside to evaluate and treat your face.

There are two main ways that we age.  We develop fine lines and wrinkles in our forehead, the area between the eyebrows (called the glabella) and around the eyes (called crow’s feet).  There are environmental factors (such as sun and smoking) as well as genetic factors that contribute to the development of these lines.  They form after repeated contraction of the muscles that crease the overlying skin.  The way I address the lines is to inject Botulinum Toxin A (found in Botox and Dysport) into the muscles that relaxes them and softens the wrinkles as a result.  As with all my work I recommend a natural, conservative approach so my patients do not look fake or frozen.

The second way we age is by loss of volume.  This means we lose mainly facial fat but also collagen, muscle and bone and this creates hollows, sinking and sagging.  Again, keeping with my philosophy of creating a natural appearance, I simply replace what volume is lost and sculpt it onto the face so the facial features are gently harmonized.  I would rather you be in the position of being able to add more product rather than regretting that you did too much.

Please note your well-being is first and foremost in my mind.  Although it is in my best interest as a businessman to have you purchase as much as possible I have an ethical responsibility to make sure you look natural and stay within your budget.  So there will be times when I tell you that you don’t need to spend money on an injectable product.  The way I have structured my practice is to have a small group of loyal clients who I know very well rather than an assembly line injection factory.

So I am looking for long term clientele who periodically come in for maintenance after reversing some of the initial aging.  I look forward to having you as my patient and assisting you in achieving your cosmetic needs.
